1st and 2nd Grade MPACT Inclement Weather Activities
PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THIS SHEET FROM YOUR MPACT BINDER
In the case that we have weather that keeps us from going to school, here are some activities that you can do at home to make up the time! :) If the assignment refers to a journal, that is found in the student’s MPACT binder.
Since we know that you will also have assignments from your homeroom, pick one or two of these to do for each day missed for bad weather.

- Do at home STEM Activities! Use the following website to do some experiments at home. There are many exciting activities to choose from depending on what supplies you have available at home. Once you go to the website, just click on EXPERIMENTS to see the options. Once you complete the activity, write a journal entry in your MPACT binder reporting on what you did. What activity did you do? Did it work? What did you learn from doing this? https://sciencebob.com/
- Ask your family members what the word gifts means to them. Take notes or draw pictures of what your family members told you.
- If you have internet access, visit http://www.nationaltrust.org/11most to read all about America’s most endangered historic places. Write about the place that you’d most like to visit in your journal. Why would you like to visit?
- We talked a lot about our individual gifts and those things that we thought we were good at doing and could offer. We read Song and Dance Man when we did this lesson and discussed the gifts that the grandfather gave his family through his dancing and singing. Create a skit that tells all about the gifts that you think you have.
- We also learned all about collections and things that different people like to collect. Some examples that we talked about were stamps, coins, and art. Think of an unusual item to collect and come up with a name for people who collect that item. Write about this in your journal.
- Use the internet or any other resources that you might have to research desert animals. You may want to read about some that were in Alejandro’s Gift. Find out how these animals can survive in such harsh environments. Write about your findings in your journal.
- Make a poster that would make people want to relocate to your state because of the natural resources found in your state. Think back to the posters that we made to help you with this.
- Research endangered animals in our area. Find out what can be done to help. Write about this in your journal.
- Be creative! Make a gift using only recycled materials you found at home. Bring your gift in to share with the class!
- Interview a family member about an heirloom that will be a gift from the past.
Since we know that you will also have assignments from your homeroom, pick one or two of these to do for each day missed for bad weather.
